Still Hot!!

Okay I am working on an extensive vacation to Minnesota blog but I wanted to get something up. Its so freakin hot hear I am pretty miserable and this damn laptop is not helping matters! Did my first week at 66 Federal Credit Union and it was a good time. I was really fried on Thursday night after work! But I think I bounced back nicely on Friday and it was a good way to finish the week. I haven't been working up in the call center yet. I head up to the 6th floor (where my desk is) on Monday. I doubt I will take calls anytime soon. Lots of stuff still to learn but its been good so far. Its weird to have a "normal" schedule after years of weekends, part time, and overnight work but I think I will like it. Was able to have lunch with my wife every single day and what a great luxury of small town living to be able to come home for an hour. Things are going well and like I said I have more to say about going back to Minnesota and seeing all of our friends and family back there and will try to finish that up and get it posted soon. For now I am gonna wrap it up and go back to watching the Twins game. Gotta take advantage of the free week of MLB extra innings on Direct TV and maybe have a Grain Belt Premium Light (picked up a couple half racks in White Bear Lake!!!)

Talk to ya!!

Hot Hot Heat!!

Greetings from steamy Oklahoma...man it is toasty here in the mid south! Its been an exciting and trying week. Did the job interview thing. It went pretty well but no offer as of yet. They were still interviewing folks through the end of the week and I expect to hear something either way by mid week. I am excited and nervous. I would really like this job and could see myself doing the job well. Nervous because we really have a lot riding on this job. Decent jobs are few and far between around here and pickings have been slim. I was hoping to have a shot at the full time radio job but never got the chance so focus has changed. So fingers still crossed that things will go our way.

Nicki and I will be celebrating our 2 year wedding anniversary tomorrow and wow how those two years have thrown so much at us, both good and bad. So many of you that read this were a part of that special day and I can't thank you all enough. It was a great day and all of you being a part of it made it that much more amazing. We are keeping things low key as we get ready to travel to Minnesota for 4th of July. We will really let our hair down on Da Range! Really excited to hit the road! Its been so long since I went on a really long drive, well one where I ever got behind the wheel that is. We are trying to plan a little get together somewhere in town on July 1 and will be letting people know on Facebook when we figure out exactly what we are gonna do.

Quick movie reviews...first on DVD Hot Tub Time Machine. Super Lame but did have some funny parts. Wouldn't really go out of your way to see it if you haven't already. As for theater fare, we saw The A Team today and it was really enjoyable. It was a cheesy popcorn flick but for those of us that watched the TV show know the show was REALLY CHEESY! This wasn't quite that but it tried in parts. You certainly need to suspend some disbelief and go with it. UFC fans will know that Rampage Jackson is in the flick and I thought he was really good in the old Mr T role of BA Baraccus. Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper, and Jessica Biel were all fantastic. I would go see this one if you can. I keep hearing great things about Toy Story 3 and we will be going to see it as early as this next week and I will let ya'll know my thoughts.

Nicki and I are both doing well with our eating changes. Being very conscious of our intake levels and proportions. We are trying really hard and considering where we were just a few weeks ago I would say its pretty impressive. I am limiting my intake to 2600 calories a day and drinking only water. You can already see a difference and I certainly feel better already. Like I have said before this isn't a diet as much as it is a lifestyle change. There are gonna be time where we make poor choices and I am sure you will all see many poor choices when we come to visit in Minnesota as we are gonna enjoy some things we can't have here in Oklahoma but also just be smarter about the amounts of things. Given this heat all I can think about is the amount of Grain Belt Premium Light I would like to be drinking :).

Happy Fathers Day to all the Dad's out there. Some times Dad's get the short end of the stick and thats a bummer but all the Dads I know are top notch and all deserve a a day of their own. I wish I could be with my Dad tomorrow and if you are make sure you give yours a hug and thank him for all he did for you. As Chris Rock likes to say "Hey Pops, thanks for knocking out that rent!"

Talk soon!

Bad Bad Blogger

Yes I have not blogged in over a week. I honestly haven't known what to write. I have started a couple of times and then it just hasn't worked out. It was a weird week last week and I didn't want to write anything while I was in that head space anyway. So lets try this again.

Rain Rain and More Rain!

Its been crazy the last couple of days with all this rain in Oklahoma. Oklahoma City which is a couple hours away got something like 10 inches of rain in places in a 24 hour period. There was some crazy pictures on cars flooded under overpasses and fields flooded. Here in Bartlesville we saw something like 3 inches of rain in 12 hours and I was rudely awakened by the early morning storm. For the second time in a month lighting hit so close to the house that it woke me out of dead sleep and scared the crap out of me. So that was a fun wake up call at 3:45 in the morning. But thankfully we had no issues because of it. Now it looks like the heat will get cranked back up for the rest of this week with high 90 temps and heat indexes in the 100's.

Time for a Road Trip

Things are coming together for our trip back to Minnesota for 4th of July weekend. I am getting quite excited but also know there is no way that we are going to be able to see everyone that we want to see. It looks like we are only gonna be in the Cites for one day so that Nicki can get home to be with her family. Certainly understandable and I apologize if we don't get to see you while we are in town. With the amount of driving and the limited amount of time we actually have its gonna be crazy. I think we are going to be staying at the Hyatt in Eden Prairie on Thursday the 1st and would like to get some people together so if you are interested in meeting up let me know. Maybe there is a place we can all go for drinks or something? I don't know...I do know that if anyone where to bring me some Grain Belt Premium Light (the ones in the blue box) I would love you forever and ever! Nicki has been getting more and more homesick lately and I would guess knowing we are getting closer to being there it makes it that much tougher. She isn't used to being away from family like I am so she is still working through it. Its all good though, car is rented, hotel is lined up, and just waiting to actually do the drive. Loading up the iPod with some great stuff and can't wait to hit the road.

Job Updates

Well Thursday is interview #2 at 66 Federal Credit Union. I am nervous and excited but I take solace in the knowledge that I have never not gotten a job that I have actually interviewed for. There have been unanswered applications and resumes but if I can get in the door I have always manged to get a job. I probably just gave myself the broom but if I don't get it then it wasn't meant to be. I am pretty bummed that I was never even talked to about the sports directors job at the radio station that I work at but clearly they didn't want to use me. I think I would have done a fantastic job for them but its there loss. I am pretty bummed to not have a more steady radio job but knowing that was a likely scenario when we moved here it is just something to deal with and move on. Hopefully I will have both the CU job and some part time work at the station when fall sports start back up. Everything will work out as it is supposed to. Anytime we start to think it won't something happens and we know it is a sign that we are on the right track. So fingers crossed for Thursday!

Thats it for me, talk soon!

Random Thoughts

Just a few things going on in my brain. So here we go.

Ken Griffey Jr.

22 seasons in Major League baseball and my favorite player of all time (except for that little bit of time with the White Sox, lol) has decided to hang it up. Some of my best childhood memories revolve around the Seattle Mariners. I had to fortune to go to a lot of M's game as a kid thanks to my friend Pat Fancher. We sat just behind home plates in seats that pretty much ruined me forever, who wants to sit in cheap seats!! One of my best birthdays of all time was spent in Seattle. My Dad showed up to surprise me and take in the game with me after working all day in Oregon and driving the 5 hours. What a great time. I can't think Junior for all the great memories. Amazing catches, over 600 home runs, and the 1995 Playoff win over the Yankees.

Coach John Wooden

What more can be said about the great UCLA basketball coach. I doubt I could do the Wizard of Westwood justice. He lived an amazing life and was an incredible coach. I doubt there are many coaches that have not been influenced by Coach Wooden. He never had a losing season and had 4 straight undefeated seasons. He led the UCLA Bruins to 10 National Championships and walked away on top after 1975. The great thing is from the stories you hear he was an even better man than he was a coach. He would have been 100 years old in October. What a tremendous life and leader of young men.

Everything Else

So we are working on hard on our lifestyle changes. Things are continuing to go well. We treated ourselves to some BBQ today but were much more smart about what we ordered and how much we ate. We had a great meal and it was a nice change up from our hard work. We know this is a long term change and not an easy one. But the first week is in the bag and its the first of a long road. I think we are both already starting to feel better. I will continue to keep you all updated.

Went to see Get Him To the Greek at the theater the other afternoon. Very funny stuff! Russel Brand and Jonah Hill have great chemistry on screen and it was tons of laughs. Diddy with a nice comedic showing as well. Big thumbs up.

So it seems that the heat has been cranked on up to 11 here in Oklahoma. Saturday was up over 100 on the heat index. Nicki played a show out at SunFest here in Bartlesville and probably over did it a little bit. She was feeling the heat but we got her in the AC and some nice cold water and she was okay. The band did really well and were asked back to play next year.

That is it for now back to watching season 1 of Modern Family. It is hysterical! Talk to ya!

Short and Sweet

I am gonna fire this off real quick. Things are going good. Its a struggle as one might think. Imagine doing the exact opposite of the thing you have done for pretty much forever and that about sums up the last couple of days. I had a headache for the better part of 24 hours and slept a lot of Tuesday and Weds. I am back to feeling better in that regard. We are still trying to feel our way out with our changes. I will get into that more in a day or two.

I have a job interview at a credit union here in town. They have a full time call center position that would be a nice get. Radio just doesn't seem to be working out here. Disappointing but time to move in a different direction. I am not done with radio by any stretch but we have to much debt and to many bills for me to sit around and wait for things to happen. So hopefully this job will pan out and we can start making some headway.

That is it for now. I will have more later.

Talk to ya!

First Day of New Life

Okay maybe that is a little much for a headline but we are getting the ball rolling. Nicki and I got up at 7am and did our first workout. We are doing the Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred. Its a 27 minute ass kicking and will probably be a little tougher than we are ready for but gonna push through it and see what happens. Thought I would do a quick blog before I make breakfast and take Nicki to work. She is very excited about the scrambled eggs we are about to have!!

Hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend. We finished up yesterday watching UFC 114, having some pizza and homemade Strawberry Shortcake for our "last supper". Hahaha Our friends Chris and Heather came over to watch the show and hang out. They were pretty exhausted having moved all weekend. Always nice to have them over. We also enjoy a couple movies over the weekend. We finally got around to watching UP and holy buckets was that a tough one to start. First ten minutes and I cried, never a good sign. Overall it was a good movie. Watched 2012 and it was intense but pretty much what I expect from the film maker. Of course then I saw a real life giant sink hole in Guatemala and it kinda freaked me out. Hmmmmmmm

Alright time to warm up a pan and get some breakfast going. Then its off to take Nicki to work, hit up the grocery store, and TAKE A NAP!! lol

Happy Memorial Day

Hope everyone is having a safe and happy holiday weekend. Nicki and I have been doing our usual not much. Well I am not doing much and Nicki is busy working on all the different things she is involved with. She is so much busier here than when we were in Minnesota and for the most part I think she is enjoying it. She helped our friends Chris and Heather move on Saturday as well as practiced for the upcoming Bartlesville SunFest that her worship band is playing in. Lots of fun stuff.

So the other day I really came out firing with that last blog. And *gasp* here is another one. Part of the changes I want to make is to just write some stuff. I have tried to talk myself into writing before and always decide that none of it is very original or important but that is done. It still may not be original or important but it will be an outlet for me to say things that might be bothering me, things that are making me happy, or just to babble. There will be times where I go on and on and on and there may be time where I just pop on to say hi! But I ask you my faithful readers...keep me on it. If you don't see something new every couple days, yell at me on Facebook or text me or call or something. Right now I need some loving kicks in the ass on a lot of fronts and this is one I plan on keeping up with.

Tuesday Nick and I are gonna start working on some new adventures. I am sure some of you are looking for more specifics on what is going and its not that complicated its just still something I have trouble talking about. I don't really know why. It has always been the proverbial elephant in the room. Anyway I will just say important "lifestyle" change are going into full effect. I am not using the "D" word because that is just a word that just reeks of failure. So have you figured it out yet? I'm sure you have, you are smart people :)

With that I am going to try and get some sleep. Its 430 am here in beautiful Oklahoma and I have been told in no uncertain terms we are "doing something fun tomorrow, I demand it!" I guess staying out of the 90 degree heat in the wonderful central air is not fun enough :)

Talk soon

PS Congrats to my brother Jeremy and his wife Heather on the birth of their beautiful baby girl Everleigh Rae Burr...she now make 3 E's for the Las Vegas Burr's, joining Esme and Ethan. Gotta make another Vegas trip to visit my favorite kiddos!!
